The Story
Harry Chapin was a true force of nature. While he was a successful 1970’s singer/songwriter, with hits such as “Taxi” and the iconic “Cat’s In The Cradle,” he also was a tireless philanthropist and activist in the fight to end world hunger.
Through it all, he was guided and supported by his wife, Sandy. Harry and Sandy’s love story is one of selflessness, patience and determination. Together, with partner Bill Ayres, they established World Hunger Year (now WHY Hunger), an enterprise that continues today in the battle for hunger equity and social justice. Harry and Sandy’s love was undeniable. Their story is unforgettable. The new Musical I WANNA LEARN A LOVE SONG tells this incredible, timely story through Harry’s beautiful music.
One of Harry’s signature mottos was:“Each of us has the power to change the world, and the world is ready to be changed.” Harry and Sandy lived this fully. So can we all.
